I consider myself a Compulsive Shopper in a Dollar Store and would like to put in my 2 cents (or 99 cents!)…
I disagree on some of your $1 store “do not” buys…I buy real Q-tips for my ears, but the $1 cotton swabs are great for makeup cleanups (actually, these are better!) and other household uses. And why not clothespins or photo paper? As for measuring spoons or cups, I don’t trust that the measurements are accurate (although I have never tested them!) As for perishables, there used to be a 99 cent store by my house with a full produce department…and it was good!
Overall, dollar stores are the way to go!
